A true prophecy is a prediction or revelation of future events that comes to pass exactly as foretold. It is believed to be divinely inspired and can provide guidance, warnings, or insights into the future. True prophecies are often seen as a form of communication between a higher power and humanity, offering a glimpse into what is to come. Throughout history, there have been accounts of individuals who have accurately predicted future events, leading to the belief in the existence of true prophecies. **

A self-fulfilling prophecy is a belief or expectation that influences a person's behavior in a way that ultimately makes the belief come true. This occurs because the person's actions align with their belief, leading to outcomes that confirm their initial expectation. In essence, the individual unknowingly creates the conditions that validate their original belief, even if it may not have been true initially. This phenomenon highlights the powerful impact that our thoughts and beliefs can have on our actions and outcomes. **

In an attempt to avoid this fate, Laius and his wife Jocasta abandoned their infant son, Oedipus, in the mountains. However, the prophecy ultimately came true, leading to the tragic events of the play "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles. **
